Q1 records 17 pct passenger increase in Macao airport

The flight movements at the MIA also showed a 17 percent year –on-year to more than 18,000 movements during the first quarter.

 

There were 205 flight movements and the daily average traffic of the airport reached 25,000 passengers.

 

As compared to the same period last year the markets of Chinese mainland  , China’s Taiwan region and Southeast Asia recorded an increase of 28 %, 4% and 14 % respectively. This was due to the continuous increase of air routes and new airlines that entered the market.

 

There was an 11 % and 28% increase in the passengers traveling with conventional and low-cost airlines in the first quarter.

 

To help develop Macao was a world tourism and leisure center, MIA will continue to develop a diversified aviation market and cooperate with airline companies to develop potential medium and long-haul charter routes.

 

In the future to accelerate the pace of airport facility improvement and meet the growing passenger traffic demand it will offer new services.

 

There will be check-in center at Macao Border Inspection Building on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
