New MBA course aims at work-life balance: Goa University

PANAJI: Goa University (GU) on Monday launched its new MBA (Executive) programme for working professionals which will come into effect from the upcoming 2019-20 academic year. The highlight of the programme is that classes will be held in the evening on weekdays.
The programme will be of a duration of three years and have an intake of 30 seats.
Vice-chancellor, Goa University, Varun Sahni said that unlike other MBA programmes for working professionals, the course is designed to help executives maintain a work-life balance. Classes will be held from Monday to Friday, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. The alternative model available is a weekend programme which may require people to sacrifice quality time with their family to pursue further education, while working, he said.
Sahni said the course will be relevant and helpful to Goans who would like to develop their managerial skills at their convenience.
GU registrar Y V Reddy said that the new programme, a joint collaborative of the departments of management, commerce, economics and computer sciences, is aimed at enabling participants to get the benefit of synergy of different resources essential for success in corporate life.
Programme director R Nirmala said that seats for the inaugural batch are already nearly filled up.
