CHANDIGARH: A 27-year-old chartered accountant (CA) was burnt to death in his car under mysterious circumstances in Sector 23 on Tuesday.

Rohan, a resident of Sector 23, had told his parents that he was going to deliver an LGP gas cylinder at his friend’s house in the locality around 3.30 pm. He kept the cylinder in his Maruti Alto car and left. When Rohan reached near a government school, his car caught fire. Mohit, an eyewitness, said he and other passersby rushed to the spot. They found that Rohan was inside the car and tried to open the doors, but they were locked. In the meantime, the cylinder exploded in the car. People informed the police control room and tried to douse the flames by throwing buckets of water on the car. A fire tender controlled the blaze. An ambulance took Rohan to Government Multi-specialty Hospital, Sector 16, where doctors declared him brought dead.

DSP central and Sector 17 police SHO also inspected the crime scene. A forensic team collected evidence for examination.
