AHMEDABAD: The Fee Regulatory Committee, Ahmedabad, has told Udgam School for Children that it can demand payment of pending fees from parents for the year 2018-19 before giving admission to their children for the academic year 2019-20.

Manan Choksi, a trustee of Udgam School said, “On March 20, when we wrote to the fee regulatory authorities, there were 200 parents who had not paid annual fees for 2018-19. At present, there are only 30 such parents who have not paid the fee of their ward. We will give them an ultimatum to pay the fees, failing which their admission will be cancelled.”

The FRC’s directive comes after the school authorities raised the grievance that some of the parents were not paying fees approved by the regulatory committee and sought clarification with the authorities on the action to be taken by the school against these parents.

“Any action that the school will take must be in accordance with the law and in consonance with the orders passed by authorities including FRC in this regard, from time to time,” Justice K A Puj chairperson of FRC Ahmedabad Zone, Ahmedabad wrote to the Udgam School authorities in a letter dated April 1.

Meanwhile, at Global Indian International School in Ahmedabad 40 parents haven’t paid the annual fees for the year 2018-19. These parents are alleging that the fee demanded by the school authorities is in excess to the fee limit set by FRC. As a result, they are protesting by not paying the fees, which is 11.91% higher than last year and according to them it has not been approved by FRC.
