United Democratic Front candidate K. Sudhakaran files papers in Kannur

Seven candidates filed nomination papers for the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency on Wednesday.

National Democratic Alliance candidate Thushar Vellappally of the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena was the first to file his nomination papers to District Collector A.R. Ajayakumar, who is also the returning officer, on the day.

Kallazhi Krishna Das of Veliyancode in Malappuram of the Communist Party of India (dummy candidate), Mohammed Malaikapparambil in Malappuram of the Bahujan Samajwadi Party, P.P. John Pallikkamalail of Kannur of the Secular Democratic Congress, Karimakkil Sebastian of Panamaram in Wayanad (Independent), K. Biju of Kokkathodu tribal settlement at Noolpuzha in Wayanad (Independent), and K.P. Praveen Kaippullil of Thrissur district (Independant) also filed papers on the day. Fourteen persons have filed nomination papers in the constituency so far.

In Kannur

Special Correspondent writes from Kannur: Congress leader K. Sudhakaran, who is contesting in the Kannur Lok Sabha constituency, filed his nomination papers before District Collector and Returning Officer Mir Mohammed Ali.

Mr. Sudhakaran reached the Collectorate in the morning. He was accompanied by party workers and leaders.

MLAs K.C. Joseph and Sunny Joseph, District Congress Committee president Satheeshan Pacheni and Indian Union Muslim League president Abdul Khader Moulavi were present when he filed his papers.

According to the affidavit filed along with the nomination, Mr. Sudhakaran, who is a resident of Parakkandy here, holds a postgraduate degree in history and degree in law. He, his spouse and their dependent, had movable assets totalling ₹5.05 lakh and ₹44.57 lakh and ₹37,415 respectively. The immovable assets in his and his spouse’s name totalled ₹1.87 crore and ₹80 lakh respectively. Their liabilities including home loan and vehicle loan are ₹68.32 lakh and ₹6.36 lakh respectively.
