AAP to campaign for BSP-SP candidates

Noida/Ghaziabad: AAP has decided to not only support but also campaign for the SP-BSP candidate in Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar.
While the alliance candidate in Ghaziabad is Suresh Bansal, in Gautam Budh Nagar it is Satveer Nagar.

In Ghaziabad, AAP’s western UP convenor Somendra Dhaka said the alliance leaders had recently met AAP leaders and sought support. “We have given our support and our workers will work for Bansal ji. AAP will remain active and ensure that the party supporters vote for the alliance candidate. Our target is to defeat the BJP,” Dhaka said. He added that Bansal and other senior leaders met AAP’s UP in-charge and Rajya Sabha member, Sanjay Singh. “Our cadre here believes that the alliance candidate is in a strong position and will give a tough fight to the BJP candidate. Our support will strengthen the fight against the BJP,” Dhaka said.

Asked why the party is supporting the alliance in Ghaziabad, at a time it is trying to forge an alliance with the Congress in Delhi, Dhaka said: “Our primary aim is to defeat the BJP and the first phase of the elections is going to take place on April 11. So, we could not delay the decision further. We have time for Delhi, where the polling will take place on May 12.”

Bansal welcomed the support and said it is a mass movement now with the aim to protect democracy. “That is why everyone is supporting me,” he said. The AAP has decided to support the alliance candidate in Muzaffarnagar and Baghpat, a press release issued by the SP-BSP alliance stated. In Gautam Budh Nagar, , AAP’s district spokesperson, AK Singh, told TOI that they will ask people to vote for the SP-BSP alliance candidate Satveer Nagar. “We have decided to extend support after our UP in-charge made things clear in the TOI interview,” Singh said.
