Chennai:
The flying squad officials were on a vehicle check at the Medavakkam main road after midnight on Tuesday. Around 2.30 am, the officials intercepted an SUV that was speeding towards St Thomas Mount. The vehicle had a DMK flag in the front of it. When checked inside the vehicle, the team found many voter identity cards that were kept inside it.
When they inquired with the DMK members inside the vehicle, they reportedly said that all of those ID cards belonged to their friends and relatives. They said they had collected these cards and had planned to distribute it on Tuesday morning.
However, the officers were not convinced with their answers. As it is not legal to carry so many cards during election time, the officials seized the cards and handed them over to the Adambakkam police station. Police have registered a case and are inquiring from where they got these voter cards.
