FALL RIVER — First there was Alexandra’s Boutique and now, Alexandra’s Too.
Located next door to Alexandra’s Boutique, the new store is located in a completely renovated space that was once the Capitol Theatre. On entering, the first thing people will notice is a Jovani store located within Alexandra’s Too.
The Jovani store is devoted solely to the Jovani line of high end special occasion dresses, said Zach Leone, a managing partner of the business along with Fatima Rodrigues and Joel Benson.
His mother, Fatima, opened the Alexandra’s Boutique bridal dress business on March 6, 1986, at 340 S. Main St. She then expanded to a larger location at 452 S. Main St. in 1989. In August of 2013, she opened Alexandra’s Boutique in its current space at 372 S. Main St. Last winter, she and Benson purchased the building next door at 390 S. Main St. and began renovating it at the end of September, said Leone.
After months and months of work that included incorporating some of the remaining woodwork from the former theater into the design of the new store, they opened Alexandra’s Too on March 16.
This latest expansion has allowed them to focus solely on bridal and bridal party dresses at Alexandra’s Boutique. At Alexandra’s Too, the focus is on prom, special occasion, pageant and mother-of-the bride dresses. It also expanded their dressing rooms from 23 in Alexandra’s to 51 dressing rooms spread out throughout Alexandra’s Too so customers won’t have to wait to try on those dresses for their special
The new store, said Leone, has more than 7,000 dresses in the 17,000 square feet of retail space that’s essentially three stores in one: prom dresses, the Jovani store and the mother-of-the-bride boutique.
In addition to being this area’s exclusive seller of Jovani dresses, they carry more than 30 brands including their own line of dresses, he said.
Since opening in March, he said the response from customers has been extraordinary. “People are really excited about it,” added Leone.
For now, the upper level area of the building that houses the stage of the former Capitol Theatre and the balcony level has been closed off from the rest of the building. At some point, Leone said they may redevelop that portion of the building into a theater of event space.
