Driver had objected to the accused urinating in a parking lot

Three men allegedly assaulted a BMTC driver and conductor after they objected to the trio urinating in a parking lot inside the BMTC bus stand at Majestic on Monday around 9.15 p.m.

Driver Suresh Murthy and conductor Jayanna S.R. sustained multiple injuries that required hospitalisation.

In his complaint to the police, Jayanna said that he and Suresh had returned to the bus stand after duty to park the vehicle. As they approached the service road inside the stand to park in their designated spot,, Suresh saw the three men urinating. They were at the spot where the bus was supposed to be parked. He honked, but the men ignored him.

When the trio did not move, Jayanna got down and took them to task for urinating in a public place. He told the police that he asked them to move so that he could park the bus.

Instead, the men allegedly attacked him. They also allegedly beat up Suresh when he intervened.

The men fled when other BMTC staff arrived at the spot.

The Upparpet police are on the lookout for the accused and are verifying CCTV footage to identify them.
