Vontimitta gets ready for annual fest starting April 13

Ahead of Sri Rama Navami, the fervour and religious ecstasy around Lord Sri Rama pervaded all over in the TTD circles.

The annual Brahmotsavams began at Sri Kodandarama temple, with the traditional ‘Dhwajarohanam’ performed between 10.30 a.m. and noon, when the sacred flag bearing the image of Garuda was hoisted atop the flag post. The ceremony is meant to be a signal to the celestial beings to witness the grand gala event. ‘Snapana Tirumanjanam’ (celestial bath) was performed in the afternoon and the deities of Sri Rama, Lakshmana and Sita were carried on ‘Pedda Sesha Vahanam’ in the evening.

Meanwhile, the TTD has made elaborate arrangements ahead of the annual Brahmotsavams at Sri Kodandaramalayam in Vontimitta, which has been developed on the lines of Bhadrachalam in the combined State for the conduct of the ‘state festival’. Speaking after reviewing the arrangements with Kadapa District Collector Ch. Hari Kiran and Superintendent of Police Abhishek Mohanty on Wednesday, TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal said the festival would be celebrated during April 13 to 21, followed by Pushpa Yagam on April 22.

The most important event ‘Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam’ will be performed on April 18.
