The Election Commission has given its nod to the state government to begin process for buying of smart phones for aganwadi workers on a condition that they will be distributed only after Lok Sabha elections. The election commission gave permission to other half a dozen proposals as well sent by the state government. Now the state government can complete the process of buying 76,000 smart phones meant for distributing among aganwadi workers. The permission was given with a rider that government can distribute it only after Lok Sabha polls.
Government had reasoned that the smart phones will be given to Aganwadi workers under a scheme to keep tab on malnutrition among children and health of pregnant and lactating mothers. The EC also cleared the government’s proposal to extend supply tender for mid day meal scheme till June 30 to the same company. At present Xeam Venture Private Limited is supplying mid-day meal under nutritious food supply scheme. The term for supply for this company had ended March 31.
EC also gave a go ahead to law and legislative affairs department’s proposal for appointing a panel of government advocates for High Court. EC has also permitted the state government to take out tenders related to wheat procurement. Appointment of chairman for private university regulatory commission too has been given a green signal.
Cong applies for approval of 22 advt, no application from BJP
Congress had applied for approval of 22 advertisements while the BJP hasn’t applied for any advertisement till date. In meeting of Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) held at election office only 10 advertisements of Congress were given clearance while the reset were sent back with advice for correction.
Advertisement named Missing files of Rafale was turned down as the matter is still subjudice. Other advertisements were sent back that carried offensive language like Hatyari sarkar etc. EC official said that Congress can either ‘correct’ the advertisement or go for appeal.
