Online wedding platform WedMeGood, on Wednesday, said it has received a Series A funding of ₹17.84 crore ($2.6 million) from Orchid India, part of a top investment fund which invests mainly in China.
WedMeGood offers a platform for wedding service providers to showcase their offerings to the audience. It will utilise fresh funds in expanding operations in India and enhance product offering. “We are also looking at investing further in the product and user acquisition and diversification of revenue streams,” said Anand Shahani, Co-founder, WedMeGood.
Recent estimates have pegged the wedding industry at ₹27,450 crore ($40 billion) but online segment has only a small presence. It is in this space that WedMeGood wishes to expand, he said in a statement.
The company, founded in 2014 by husband and wife duo, Anand and Mehak Shahani, offers services in all major cities and destination wedding locations in India and some overseas. WedMeGood is associated with more than 30,000 vendors across the country.
Earlier, the company had raised funding of ₹2.7 crore from Indian Angel Network (IAN) in September 2015.
