NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Telecom index was down in Wednesday's afternoon session with most of its components trading lower.

Shares of Reliance Communications (down 4.77 per cent), Himachal Futuristic Communications (down 2.56 per cent), ITI (down 2.35 per cent), and OnMobile Global (down 1.80 per cent)

Vodafone Idea (down 1.48 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (down 1.26 per cent), Tata Communications (down 0.79 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (down 0.78 per cent)

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.47 per cent down at 1050.71 around 11:57 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 17.25 points at 11,730.45 while the BSE Sensex was up 116.97 points at 39,173.62.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 were trading in the green, while 27 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, Indian Energy Exchange, Tata Motors, Sobha, PNB, SAIL, Reliance Power, Reliance Communications, Vodafone Idea, JP Associates, DHFL, Exide Inds., GMR Infra, Bharti Airtel, DLF, YES Bank and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
