Banarasis enjoy this music festival in the city

The annual Shivratri Sangeet Samaroh was a connoisseur’s delight as the three day fest had some mesmerising performances that kept the audience regaled.

The concert began with a kathak performance of Dr Vidhi Nagar, who started with a presentation on Shiv Panchakshar and later moved to bhav nritya on Holi. The serene notes of bansuri set the evening rolling as flautist Vipul Vora was the next artist to take on the stage. He presented several raag based compositions.

The concluding performance on the inaugural day was by noted vocalist Ulhas Kashalkar. He rendered a composition in Raag Malkauns, Daya Karo Ab Tum followed by a bandish in Raag Basant, Phagwa Braj Dekhan Ko Chalo Re.

The highlight of the second day of the festival was performance of eminent sarangi exponent Ustad Moinuddin Khan, who presented compositions in Raag Maru Bihag and Raag Mishra Pilu among other presentations. The other artists of the evening were vocalist Bhagirath Jalan and kathak exponent Raina Kapoor.

Taking the festival to a befitting finale was the performance by celebrated danseuse Sonal Mansingh. The noted artist along with her troupe performed on the pauranic stories related to Lord Shiva. The artists were appreciated with the chanting of Har Har Mahadeva by the audience. Dr Shravani Biswas, sitar exponent and Vishal Vaid, vocalist were the other artists of the concluding evening.
