NEW DELHI: Police have arrested two men in the Rs 1.4 crore robbery case near Rani Bagh last week. The accused, who were part of a criminal gang, were found to be involved in another robbery of Rs 8 lakh in Moti Nagar. Cops have recovered Rs 40 lakh from the criminals.
The men, Alam Ali and Mohammad Mustkeem, used to supply building material earlier, but failed in their business. They then formed a group and started committing robberies in different parts of Delhi. Additional commissioner of police Rajiv Ranjan said that efforts are on to identify their other associates, Baba and Babloo.
During questioning, Ali and Mustkeem said that Baba and Babloo had followed the businessman from his shop for a few days and found that he used to carry huge sum of money back home. On the day of the robbery they started following him on a bike and a scooter. Once they reached an empty stretch of road near Rani Bagh they waylaid his car and held him at gunpoint.
Similar modus operandis were used in both the robberies. Officers are trying to recover rest of the money from the other two associates.
