Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) leader T. Velmurugan on Wednesday challenged the PMK leadership to a debate on the properties of the Vanniyar Sangam Trust.
“PMK leader S. Ramadoss’ statement on the Trust is a lie. The Trust does not belong to Mr. Ramadoss and it has properties worth ₹ 3 lakh crore. Is Mr. Ramadoss or his son Anbumani Ramadoss ready to debate with me on this,” he said addressing reporters at a press meet.
He said that he was only interested in the welfare of the Tamils and it was for this reason that he had chosen to support the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the two Left parties, but not the Congress in the 2019 General Election.
Welcoming the exemption from NEET for medical aspirants from the State that the Congress had promised in its manifesto, Mr. Velmurugan said he hoped that the Congress leadership would also promise the release of seven persons convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
On the seizure of cash allegedly belonging to DMK leader Durai Murugan, the TVK leader asked why the officials who raided Mr. Durai Murugan’s house were not conducting similar search operations in the houses of other State ministers.
