Truck rolls, spills 50 litres of diesel onto Brisbane road

A truck has rolled, ruptured its fuel tank and spilled 50 litres of diesel onto a Brisbane road during the morning peak-hour.

Emergency services were called to Beaudesert Road and Sussex Road in Acacia Ridge in Brisbane's south just after 7.30am on Wednesday.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the truck's 200-litre tank was not full at the time of the crash, but 50 litres of fuel had still spilled across both roads.

Police said motorists should avoid the area if possible or take care when driving through the area because of the "large amount of diesel causing slippery conditions".

The QFES spokesman said firefighters notified Brisbane City Council so chemical absorption materials could be brought to clear the scene, which was on the inbound side of the road.

TransLink posted on Twitter that buses in the area had missed stops owing to the spill.
