'Forever an Eagle': Five Dock shooting victim mourned

The family of a 25-year-old man shot in his Five Dock apartment have turned off his life support, as detectives continue to hunt his alleged killer.

John Odisho, 25, was at home with a male relative on Monday night when two men scaled their East Street balcony and shot them both.

Mr Odisho sustained a head wound, while the other man was shot in the arm.

They were both taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where Mr Odisho later died.

The Herald understands the other man is not cooperating with police's inquiries.

CCTV footage shows two men, one dressed in all black while the other is dressed in hi-vis, running down the street in the shooting's aftermath.

Detectives are now investigating whether a man who presented to Auburn Hospital just after 4am with a gunshot wound to the stomach was involved in the shooting.

He is not cooperating with police either, sources say.

The president of the Parramatta Melita Eagles, who Mr Odisho played football for, released a statement about the "horrific incident" on social media on Tuesday.

"It's with deep sadness that we share with you all some devastating news. Senior player John Odisho ... has sadly lost his life in a horrific incident in Five Dock earlier this week," David Frendo wrote.

"John, whom returned to Parramatta FC this season, was considered a key signing for our 2019 season. On behalf of the Parramatta Melita Eagles Sports Club Board, I offer our heartfelt condolences to John's family, his friends and to all personnel involved with John during his time at our club.

"Rest In Peace John - forever an Eagle."
