Gang robbing train passengers busted
TNN | Apr 3, 2019, 07:14 ISTLudhiana: The Government Railway Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a robbers’ gang, with the arrest of four of its members.
Ludhiana Government Railway Police station in-charge Balbir Singh said, “The four were arrested from the city railway station on a tip-off late on Monday evening. Armed with sharp-edged weapons, the gang would target passengers in long-route trains at night hours. They were planning another strike when a police party nabbed them.”
Those arrested include kingpin Gulshan Singh of Uttar Pradesh, his associates Sunil Kumar and Vicky, both residents of Jalandhar. “In the past few months, the gang has committed several robberies. Some of the cases were registered at Ludhiana Government Railway Police station, too. The gang members will be produced in a local court on Tuesday,” he added.
A case has been registered under sections 401 (punishment for belonging to gang of thieves) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the IPC and the Arms Act.
