Foran facing up to three months on the sidelines

Canterbury playmaker Kieran Foran could be out for up to three months after suffering a serious ankle injury.

Foran produced one of his best performances in the upset win over Wests Tigers, but struggled to finish the game. The former New Zealand international will require immediate surgery, with Newcastle recruit Jack Cogger likely to make his club debut against Melbourne on Sunday.

"Bulldogs playmaker Kieran Foran is to undergo surgery for a high ankle sprain, meaning he is likely to miss 10 to 12 weeks," the Bulldogs said in a statement. "Foran injured the ankle during the Wests Tigers match and after visiting an ankle specialist today, scans have revealed a high ankle sprain on his right leg that will require immediate surgery."

Meanwhile, South Sydney will name Greg Inglis for Saturday’s clash with Manly, with Rabbitohs officials hopeful he will overcome his shoulder injury in time for kickoff.

Inglis’ return would be a timely one given centre Braidon Burns is facing several weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring complaint.
