MADURAI: As part of the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities, Theni district collector Pallavi M Baldevi on Tuesday released a giant balloon.
The balloon was 15 feet in height and 50 feet in diameter. The election date -- April 18 -- was printed on it. It had a message: “It is the duty of every Indian who is 18 years of age to vote on that day.’’ These words would be visible from very far.
The collector said the Theni Lok Sabha constituency and Andipatti and Periyakulam assembly constituencies were going for the polls on April 18. Several steps were being taken to ensure 100% polling, she added.
