Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Tuesday said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form a "poor-friendly government" at the Centre, like the ones by former AIADMK Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) and J. Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu.

Campaigning for BJP candidates Tamilisai Soundararajan in Thoothukudi and C.P. Radhakrishnan in Coimbatore, Shah said: "In 2014, the BJP did not have a big alliance in Tamil Nadu. But we won and gave ministerial berths to two MPs from Tamil Nadu -- Pon Radhakrishnan and Nirmala Sitharaman, daughter of the soil."

Stressing that the BJP now had a big electoral alliance this time with parties like the AIADMK, the PMK, the TMC, the DMDK and others, he said a survey had predicted the NDA winning over 30 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu.

The alliance will continue for next assembly polls and serve the people, he added.

Claiming that from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, people wanted Narendra Modi to become the Prime Minister again, he said: "The NDA will not only win the Lok Sabha elections but also the Assembly polls."

Taking a dig at the DMK-Congress alliance, the BJP leader said it had people like Karti Chidambaram, Kanimozhi and A. Raja against whom there were corruption charges.

According to Shah, the 13th Finance Commission had given the state about Rs 94,000 crore, but the 14th Finance Commission under the Modi government allocated Rs 5.45 lakh crore.

The BJP chief said the new government headed by Modi would provide more funds to Tamil Nadu to implement more developmental projects.

The Modi-led government, through its policies, enabled doubling of coconut exports during the past four years. It has also brought the defence industrial corridor and Rs 200 crore has been allocated by the Central government for common effluent plant in Tiruppur, he said,

Under the Udan scheme (low cost regional airlines) one can fly between Chennai-Salem for Rs 2,500, he said.

Shah also stressed that Kashmir was a part of India and the Modi government would not give it away to anyone.
