Manifesto’s Promises Implementable by Wise Govt: Cong Hits Back

Minutes after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley hit out at the Congress party for “making promises which it can’t fulfill”, senior Congress leader and the head of the manifesto committee P Chidambaram said that the promises are implementable by a “wise and a competent government”.

Taking a swipe at Jailtey, Chidambaram also added, “I concede that this is unimplementable by a BJP government.”

Jaitley Says Cong Making ‘Dangerous’ Promises in Manifesto

Addressing a press conference from the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Jaitley had said that the party which makes promises like doing away with the sedition law, is not entitled to get even a single vote.

The Congress in its manifesto has promised to omit Section 124A that defines the offence of sedition.

He also hit out at the grand old party, saying it is “making dangerous promises” with an agenda for “balkanisation of India”.

Jaitley said that the manifesto of the party is against the “unity of the nation”.

Taking a dig at the drafting committee of the party, the finance minister added, “Even though there was a drafting committee, it appears that some of the important points have been drafted by the Congress President’s friends in ‘Tukde Tukde gang’ when it deals with Jammu & Kashmir.”

Jaitley also said that the Congress party is in the clutches of “jihadis and maoists”.
