3 workers die while cleaning septic tank

Vijayapura: Three workers were suffocated to death while cleaning a septic tank at a hotel in Indi town on Tuesday.
According to police, the deceased are Mudakappa Kattimani, 35, Gudusab Bagwan, 45, and Nabilal Ekkevale, 26.

The incident happened when the workers were cleaning the tank at Amar Hotel in Indi Road railway station area, which has been recognised by the tourism department. Source said the workers did not get enough oxygen while cleaning the big septic tank, and breathed their last.


Another worker, who was also engaged in the cleaning work, was rescued. He is being treated at the district hospital.


Police, Home Guards and the hotel staff struggled hard to bring the bodies out. The search operation lasted over two hours, it is said.


Indi police have booked case in this regard.
