Surat/Bharuch: BJP candidate for Bharuch parliamentary seat, Mansukh Vasava, filed his nomination papers on Tuesday. Vasava, 61, reached the district collector’s office after participating in a large procession of party workers. He was accompanied by three BJP MLAs including Ishwar Patel, MoS for cooperatives and BJP state general secretary Bharatsinh Parmar.

Vasava is contesting for the sixth term from Bharuch seat. He first won the LS bypolls in 1998 after the demise of then BJP MP Chandu Deshmukh. He won Bharuch seat in 1999, 2004,2009 and 2014 Lok Sabha polls with handsome margins. In 1999, he had defeated Congress leader Ahmed Patel. Despite Bharuch being a general category seat, BJP has been giving tickets to tribal candidate considering a significant nu- mber of tribal votes in this constituency.
