If not in the current profession, you would be?

I would have been a doctor and a good one at that!

One tune you always hum?

I love humming two hindi sings tune infact- one from ghayal (Sochna Kya Jo bhi Hoga Dekha Jayega…) and another one from Mein Azaad Hoon (Itne Baju Itne Sar…)

One book to read when you want to motivate yourself?

I love to read “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish” and “Endurance (Alfred Lansing)” for my dose of adrenalin!

One dialogue of a movie that motivates you or you like the most?

This one is again from my favorite Amitabh Bachchan’s one from Khudagawah (Itna Mat Soch, Soch gehri ho jaye to faisle kamzor ho jaate hain)

The place you never been to and always want to go?

Iceland

Horse as they represent noble values, work ethics, pride, strength, power, freedom, endurance and elegance.

Luck or Hard Work, what do you think weighs more in defining a successful person?

Luck would sneak in a window of opportunity and hard work will ensure converting the opportunity into results. However, a successful person is always defined by the hard work he/ she puts in. No amount of luck will ever result in success if hard work is not there.

One best decision you ever made?

Continuing my journey as a professional in the construction Sector. I have had opportunities to switch to different but more lucrative fields (in those times) than construction. However, sticking to the advice of my Professor saying “irrespective of where you are, if you are in the top ten, success will be yours”. I am glad it has worked.

A strategy that you always use to take your decisions in Personal or Professional life?

Every decision comes with its Risks and Rewards. While all input information and analysis would be at the back of the decision-making process, I also project the risks and rewards in the future of taking a decision. In that process, I generally try to understand the maximum risks of sticking with the decision. That helps me allay any hesitation in taking the right decision.

Whose advice do you seek when in a dilemma? 

I generally seek advice from my leaders/ mentors of present and the past for professional dilemma. For my personal dilemmas, I resort to my close friends and sometimes spirituality.

What has been your biggest achievement? 

I believe my biggest achievement has been my ability to bring a difference to the lives of people who have worked for me. I genuinely try to ensure their professional and personal growth. On my career front, I feel that working for RICS gives me a sense of immense satisfaction as it is work in public interest and nation-building.

On the personal front, ensuring that my children have inculcated the right set of values (irrespective of the external influence) and still being a friend to me, is the joint biggest achievement of me and my wife!

One thing that you want to change in yourself?

If I could, I would have liked to work for the defence forces of the country!

A line said by your close one that you never forget? 

One of my ex-colleague and friend once said “Speed matters, Direction matters even more”. One might gain through speed but it is much costlier to do the course correction once you have proceeded in the wrong direction.
