KOLKATA: Police on Sunday arrested 13 people, including four women, for their alleged involvement in running a sex racket in Jadavpur. The raid at the Bapuji Nagar residence was conducted based on a tip.

“All of them were found in highly compromising and objectionable situation in cubicles on the premises. They indulged in sex trade by procuring women living on such trade and running the racket in a residential area near an educational institution,” said a senior police officer.

A case was filed under sections 3, 4, 5, 7 and 18 of the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956. The persons named in the FIR were arrested.

Sources said that due to the importance of the case, the additional OC of Jadavpur police has been instructed to take over the investigation.
