Nagpur: Next three days will see a lot of political bigwigs campaigning in Vidarbha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public meeting in Gondia at 6pm on Wednesday. Congress president Rahul Gandhi will address a meeting in Nagpur on Thursday. He will then campaign in Chandrapur and Wardha on Friday. The venue for the public meeting in Wardha will be THE same as that of Modi on Monday.
BSP supremo Mayawati will address a public meeting in Nagpur on April 5. NCP chief Sharad Pawar will campaign in Gondia on April 8. Political circles are abuzz with rumours that Pawar is not addressing a public meeting in Nagpur due to his close relations with BJP’S Nagpur candidate Nitin Gadkari. However, state NCP president Jayant Patil will be in Nagpur on April 5.
In Gondia, Modi will campaign for BJP candidate Sunil Mendhe, who is pitted against Nana Panchbudhe of NCP. In 2014, he had not addressed any meeting in Bhandara-Gondia constituency. Modi had addressed a public meeting in Wardha on Monday. In Vidarbha he is addressing only two meetings.
The Bhandara-Gondia constituency is witnessing a straight fight between Mendhe and Panchbudhe. Senior BJP leader Khushal Bopche had rebelled and jumped into the fray as an independent. At that time political experts had said that the fight had become triangular due to huge support enjoyed by Bopche among OBCs. Bopche’s withdrawal has given a breather to BJP. Prakash Malgave, another saffron rebel, has also withdrawn but another rebel Rajendra Patle is in the fray.
