Congress manifesto will wreck country's economy, raise taxes, increase fiscal deficit: BJP’s Rajeev Chandrasekhar

NEW DELHI: The Congress manifesto will wreck the country's economy, raise taxes, increase fiscal deficit and also raise inflation, BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar said in a statement on Tuesday.
The BJP MP from Karnataka also slammed the Congress for suggesting the removal of the sedition law. "It will undermine our armed forces and take us back to an era where separatists rule in J&K," he said.
The BJP leader's statement came on a day when the Congress party released its manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Chandrashekhar asked the Congress president to do a comparative analysis of the performance of the country's economy during the NDA government and the rule of the previous UPA governments.
Dismissing the manifesto, the BJP leader said that in the last 65 years the Congress has a history of not delivering on its promises. "It is for everyone to see that the BJP has fulfilled 98% of its promises while the Congress has a long history of manifesto promises that it will NOT keep similar to that we have seen in the Manifesto commitment of 2004 and 2009," he added.
Earlier today, finance minister Arun Jaitley too had criticised the Congress manifesto, saying it was aimed at "Balkanisation" of India.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters here, Finance Minister and senior party leader Arun Jaitley said the Congress does not deserve "even a single vote" for its promises, such as doing away with sedition law.
He also said even tokenism has not been done on farm loan waiver in the five states where the Congress is in power.
Jaitley alleged that though the Congress had set up a drafting committee, it appears that some important points related to Jammu and Kashmir were drafted by party chief Rahul Gandhi's friends in 'Tukde Tukde' gang.
