  • Semi-pro soccer player John Odisho died in hospital after he was shot 

A semi-professional soccer player has been killed in a targeted shooting.  

John Odisho, 25, and another man were shot in a unit in Five Dock, inner-west Sydney in the early hours of Tuesday.

He was rushed to hospital and put on life support which his family later turned off on the advice of doctors.

Mr Odisho played for NSW league two club Parramatta FC.

The club president announced the news on Facebook, saying: 'I offer our heartfelt condolences to John's family.'

 Dear members,

It with deep sadness that we share with you all some devastating news. Senior player John Odisho (pictured) has sadly lost his life in a horrific incident in Five Dock earlier this week.

John, whom returned to Parramatta FC this season was considered a key signing for our 2019 season. On behalf of the Parramatta Melita Eagles Sports Club Board, I offer our heartfelt condolences to John's family, his friends and to all personnel involved with John during his time at our club.

Due to the serious nature and the circumstances relating to the incident leading to John's passing, PMESC and its board will not be making any further comments, public nor private.

Police rushed to a unit in Five Dock at 3.45am on Tuesday.

Officers found a man with a head wound in critical condition and a man with an arm wound in stable condition.

They were both taken to hospital by paramedics. 

Police believe the attack was targeted and probably gang-related.
