Man on life support, two others injured in shooting in Sydney's inner west

Police are searching for two possible gunmen after a man was shot in the head in what detectives believe may have been a targeted shooting in Sydney's inner west on Tuesday morning.

The man was put on life support, but sources say he is not expected to survive the day.

Two other men were injured in the shooting, which police believe was linked to organised crime.

About 3.45am, police were called to a unit on East Street, Five Dock following reports of possible gunshots being fired.

Inside the unit, they found one man with a gunshot wound to the head and a second man with a gunshot wound to his arm.

The man with the head wound was taken to hospital in a critical condition, while another man is believed to be stable.

A third man took himself to hospital with gunshot injuries.

Officers from ballistics, forensics and the homicide squad were believed to be assisting the investigation, and a crime scene remained in place on Tuesday.
