GURUGRAM: A 7-year-old boy was left with multiple fractures in his leg after he was hit by a car, allegedly driven rashly by a resident of the society they live in.

The incident took place in CCGHS society in Sector 55 on Friday evening.

The boy is currently in hospital with a temporary plaster on his left leg.

According to the complaint filed on Sunday by the boy’s mother Arti Vaish, her son was playing with his friends in the society around 6pm on Friday.

A resident, who was driving her white Swift car “rashly”, hit the boy and fled, said Arti’s complaint.

He was immediately taken to the hospital, where an x-ray revealed multiple fractures in his left leg.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered against the 42-year-old woman under sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code at Sector 56 police station.

“We are speaking to eyewitnesses and trying to get CCTV footage. We sent a notice to the accused to join the investigation. We are verifying facts,” said inspector Pradeep Kumar, SHO, Sector 56 police station.

The boy stays in tower 3 while the woman lives in tower 4 of the same society, the police said.

“This was not a highway or an outside road. It was an internal road which is being used by elderly and children, so driving needs to be more cautious. My child was wearing school shoes which were torn when the speeding car hit him badly. Thinking it to be neighbourhood issue, I did not call police but the woman did not even once come to see my boy. My friends and family members asked me to take action to deter such driving practices inside societies and help in ensuring the safety of other children,” Arti told TOI.

Several attempts by TOI to contact the accused were made, but she could not be reached.
