Making a splash

The ninth edition of Goa Swimathon 2019, organised by Panaji-based Enduro Sports Goa was held at Bambolim beach. The swimathon witnessed a record 581 swimmers from all over India taking part in 10 kilometres, 5 kilometres, 2 kilometres, 1 kilometre and 250 metres races.

There were 177 swimmers from Mumbai, 140 from Bengaluru, 54 from Pune and 30 swimmers from the host state of Goa taking part, including youngsters, seniors and the differently-abled.

Prabhat Koli and Arya Sheth of Mumbai emerged as the fastest swimmers on the final day of the event. Prabhat won the 2 km open category race in 32:53 minutes while Arya won the 1 km open category race in 14:53 minutes. Nicole Pavri of Goa won the one km race for senior women in 23:27 minutes.
