“Rajan Anandan, Google’s vice president, South East Asia and India, will remain with the company till the end of April”
Google’s vice president for South East Asia and India, Rajan Anandan announced he’s leaving the company after eight years of service. While he was working at Google, Rajan was a part of numerous major projects, including reviving the Android One project in India, free Wi-Fi network in railway stations across India, the growth of Google Pay, and many more. Rajan Anandan will now join Sequoia Capital India as Managing Director.
Scott Beaumont, President, Google Asia Pacific said, “We are grateful to Rajan for his huge contribution to Google over the past eight years. His entrepreneurial zeal and leadership have helped grow the overall internet ecosystem in India and Southeast Asia, and we wish him all the best in his new adventures.”
Anandan will continue to work at Google till the end of April. While Beaumont is expected to take over the position, Vikas Agnihotri – who’s currently responsible for sales across India – will take up the position as the interim MD until Anandan’s successor is found. Anandan previously served at Microsoft and Dell in India.
In his new position at Sequoia, Rajan will join the leadership team in addition to the six current Managing Directors and will focus on developing Surge, which is a scale-up program for startups. He will serve as an investment advisor and mentor to the program’s founders.
