Nipsey Hussle, suspect had personal dispute: police

(SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) LOS ANGELES MAYOR ERIC GARCETTI: "Nipsey's death has sent shockwaves across this city and across this globe." As police search for the person they believe shot and killed rapper Nipsey Hussle, new details have emerged on what led to his death.

(SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) LOS ANGELES POLICE CHIEF MICHEL MOORE: "We believe they were known to each other." Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore said at a news conference Tuesday that Hussle and his suspected killer - Eric Holder - had a personal dispute between them.

Though, he did not reveal what the issue was about.

(SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) LOS ANGELES POLICE CHIEF MICHEL MOORE: "Mr. Holder walked up on multiple occasion and engaged in a conversation with Nipsey and the others that were there.

He left and then came back and armed with a hand gun and purposely and repeatedly fired striking and killing Nipsey Hussle." Moore said Holder then fled in a waiting car driven by a woman.

He was identified through surveillance video and information from the community.

Police also gave more details on the chaos that broke out Monday night at a vigil for Hussle.

(SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) MEGHAN AGUILAR OF LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT SAYING: "Absolutely chaotic, mass panic." People ran in all directions - one person seen here being carried away amid the mayhem.

(SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) LOS ANGELES POLICE CHIEF MICHEL MOORE: "It appears an individual in the crowd was armed with a handgun, another individual seeing that, attempted to disarm him." No one was shot, but officials said the stampede that ensued left 12 injured, 2 of them critically.
