PAU gate 4 to be closed for 4 days
Mehak Jain | tnn | Apr 2, 2019, 04:28 ISTLudhiana: Gate No. 4 near Rose Garden of Punjab Agricultural University will remain closed for four days as the installation of pipes for drainage system is going on. After the construction work started on Monday, the entire stretch was barricaded.
Estate officer at Punjab Agricultural University Vishvajeet Singh Hans said, “Heavy rainfall witnessed in the previous months has led to erosion of the upper layer of roads. Part of the road at Gate No. 4 was washed away. To avoid facing the same issue again, we will be taking precautionary measures and installing additional pipes. Gate No. 6 will remain open for the commuters.” The boundary walls on the said stretch were also damaged.
The authorities are going to install pipes which will carry water from left side — which is on a higher level— of the ground to the right side. These pipes will be installed in addition to the existing ones. The authorities are working towards finishing the installation of pipes a month before they begin construction of road and related repair work.
The gate will be opened and the barricades will be removed once the installation work is complete.
