Toyota is getting into the April Fools’ Day spirit by unveiling their new Yaris Adventure pickup.
Billed as the answer to a question “nobody asked,” the Yaris Adventure is a subcompact pickup that is part sedan, part truck and “100 percent awesome.”
Looking like a diseased fish, the Yaris Adventure has a rugged front bumper with integrated tow hooks. Moving further back, we can see pronounced fender flares and plastic body cladding. The model also has a roof rack and a 52.3 inch (132.8 cm) long bed which has a payload capacity of 297 lbs (134.7 kg).
Speaking of the bed, Toyota says it features composite construction which makes it ideal for “most moderate jobs.” While the truck’s practicability is extremely limited, the automaker pointed out a huge advantage about this – no one will ask you to help them move.

Toyota didn’t release interior pictures, but the cabin only has two seats and a two speaker audio system. Drivers will also find a 7-inch infotainment system and 42.5 inches (107.9 cm) of legroom.
Power comes from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 103 hp (77 kW / 104 PS) and 112 lb-ft (152 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission which enables the Yaris Adventure to return up to 35 mpg highway.
Front wheel drive will apparently come standard, but Toyota confirmed plans to offer an optional all-wheel drive system. The company was coy on specifics, but confirmed the system will allow owners to “carefully bring their vehicles out of their underground garage when it snows in the city.”
The Yaris Adventure pickup will be unveiled at the New York Auto Show later this month and Toyota says it’s “perfect for those who want to tell their friends they own a truck, but never veer off pavement.”
