Pedestrian hit by car in Sydney's inner west

A man is being treated by paramedics after he was struck by a car in Sydney's inner west on Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to Georges River Road in Ashfield just before 10am to reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle.

An ambulance spokeswoman said three ambulance crews and an aeromedical team arrived to find the man unconscious, and treated him for head and wrist injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was also being assessed by paramedics.

The crash comes after a 12-year-old's lucky escape when he was hit by a car last month.

Police released footage on Monday morning showing the boy running across the road before being hit. He escaped with only minor scratches.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Command Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy said drivers and pedestrians needed to take extra care on NSW roads.
