Maha: Cash worth Rs 10 lakh, three trucks of liquor seized

Unaccounted cash worth Rs 10 lakh and a huge quantity of liquor was seized in district of in the early hours on Monday, police said.

It is suspected that the liquor and cash was supposed to be used to influence voters in upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Police have detained seven persons in this regard, an said, adding that police had information that the trucks might be passing Shirval, Karad, Talbeed, Lonand, Umbraj and Aundh villages in taluka in western Maharashtra, around 300 kms from

"Police detained at least seven persons with cash of Rs 10 lakh and three trucks full of liquor," he said, adding that questionning of the seven persons is underway.

Elections to all the 48 Lok Sabha seats in will be held in four phases between April 11 and April 29.
