Ludhiana: The police arrested a Liberian after heroin was recovered from his possession in Khanna on Monday.

George N Bole, 28, is a resident of Delhi’s Uttam Nagar.

Khanna senior superintendent of police Dhruv Dahiya said, “On seeing an on-patrol police party near Prem Bhandari Park on Amloh road, a man tried to flee. He was chased and nabbed. During checking, 400 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.” The contraband is worth Rs 2 crore in international market.

Khanna deputy superintendent of police Deepak Rai said, “Bole, a native of Liberia, told during interrogation that he had procured the contraband from a Nigerian in Delhi. He claimed he had come to Khanna for the first time to deliver heroin. We are yet to ascertain if he has been living in India legally as he was not carrying his passport.”

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

As many as 24 foreign nationals have been arrested for drug peddling in the past eight months, Rai added.
