One half of the Russo Brothers, Joe Russo was in Mumbai to promote the upcoming film Avengers:Endgame on Monday. The film that wraps up the first sequence of 22 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has a huge fan-following in the country, which he claims gave him the inspiration to tirelessly work on the two-part finale shot over the span of a year.

With the end of this first phase of the MCU, a new generation of heroes are on the way to win hearts. With Marvel’s agenda of inclusivity, will we see the debut of an Indian superhero in a Hollywood film? Chances are, we just might! “I would pick Bollywood stars to play Indian superheroes. I think moving forward you are going to see a really diverse Marvel universe and it’s really important that audiences all around the world are able to identify with a character on screen and I think we will be able to see that real soon,” says Joe.

The director particularly likes Priyanka Chopra’s work. “Priyanka is transitioning into global status right now. She’s fantastic, I would love to work with her,” he says as he breaks out into a grin. “I’m smiling because I’m actually in talks with other her about a potential project.”

The action lover is also a fan of Salman Khans films. “I’m an action director so I saw Dabangg years ago, I still have to see Dabangg 2. I thought the camera work was great in those films, and the tone and energy was great, so certainly I know Salman Khan,” he says.

But would you believe it if we told you he takes inspiration from our Indian films? “An interesting story, which I think will really be a good headline tomorrow will be that Robot (Rajinikanth film) almost inspired the climax of Age of Ultron. So you know in Robot where all the Robots in the end form a snake, the ultrons in Age of Ultron had a moment where they all came together to form one big Ultron. Though it had to get cut for time, that scene was directly inspired from Robot,” he reveals.
