Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami accused the DMK of "scientific corruption," and said people will know who indulged in graft after the verdict is pronounced by court in the appeals over the 2 G Spectrum case.

Alleging that the DMK top leadership was concerned only about its family interests rather than the people, he said if "Stalin (DMK president) intends breaking up the AIADMK and dislodging the government, he will only get failure as gift."

Campaigning for Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai, who is seeking re-election from Karur constituency, Palaniswami said Stalin should "learn," to maintain dignity in his political speeches.

Against the backdrop of DMK attacking his party by levelling a slew of corruption allegations, the chief minister said, "it is the DMK members who indulged in scientific corruption."

Palaniswami said,"the appeals in the 2G spectrum case is being heard by the court and people will know who indulged in graft after the verdict is pronounced..."

AIADMK was a large party comprising about 1.5 crore workers which had the ability to take on rivals, he said.

The Enforcement Directorate and the CBI had filed appeals in the Delhi High Court in the 2G Spectrum case after a special court acquitted the accused persons in 2017 and the matter is pending in that court.

Former Union Minister A Raja, who is contesting from Nilgiris, and DMK Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi (from Tuticorin) were among the accused in the 2G case.

The DMK had also approached Governor Banwarilal Purohit and later the Madras High Court over such corruption allegations against the AIADMK government.
