NEW DELHI: Indian radars early Monday detected a large UAV and package of four Pakistani F-16 close to the Indian border in Khemkaran sector in Punjab, news agency ANI has reported quoting sources.
The Indian Air Force scrambled Su-30MKI and Mirage jets in response following which the Pakistani jets retreated further into their territory, the sources added. The incident took place at 3am today.
Last month, two Pakistani fighters were detected going supersonic 10km from the Line of Control (LoC) within the territory of PoK in J&K's Poonch.
This comes weeks after Pakistani fighters transgressed into the Indian air space in Jammu and Kashmir and tried to target Indian military installations before they were chased away by the Indian Air Force.
In the ensuing dogfight, one F-16 fighter of Pakistan Air Force was shot down by the Indian Air Force, which also lost a MiG-21 Bison plane.
