MUMBAI: The Malabar Hill police on Saturday arrested a 30-year-old man, Dilip Kumar, on charges of abetting his wife's suicide and also booked his relatives. Kumar's wife, Manju, committed suicide by hanging herself at their Neapeansea Road residence on Friday night.
The next morning, a family friend, Himanshu Kanojia, visited the Kumars and found the door locked. After ringing the bell repeatedly, when he didn't get a response, Kanojia broke open the door and found Manju hanging. In his police statement, Kanojia said Manju had told him that she suspected her husband was having an extramarital affair. Police said when Manju confronted Kumar, he got angry and abused her and asked for a divorce.
