Just a few days ahead of her 97th birthday on April 3, Doris Day is sharing her exclusive birthday portrait, following a weekend celebration in her honor in her adopted home of Carmel, California.

The three-day event, attended by her loyal fans, was hosted by her charity the Doris Day Animal Foundation. and featured a 60th anniversary screening of Pillow Talk, the romantic comedy she made with her good friend Rock Hudson.

The screen and song legend, who did not attend the festivities, said in a statement: “I was floored to hear about all the activities happening over the weekend! I’m so touched and grateful to my pals who donated their time and talents and the wonderful fans from all over the world who made the trip just for my birthday. Their love and support to help us raise money for the precious four-ledgers means more to me than I can say.”

For the last four decades, Day, who charmed millions of fans with films such as Calamity Jane and Pajama Game and once defined girl next door wholesomeness, has lived quietly in Carmel. Since founding the Animal Foundation in 1978, she’s devoted her life and her name to protect animals.
