MUMBAI: The Azad Maidan police on Monday arrested assistant engineer S F Kakulte of the BMC’s bridge department for negligence in the March 14 Himalaya FOB collapse. This is the first arrest of a civic official in the case. Kakulte had been suspended after the collapse as he had supervised the repairs in 2013.

Six people died and 31 were injured in the crash. Last month, police had arrested structural audit firm owner Neeraj Kumar Desai for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
