Another blaze at Jambuva landfill site

Vadodara: Another fire was reported in the Jambuva landfill site located on the outskirts of the city. This is the second blaze to take place at the site within eight days.
The fire was reported at the site of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Monday night. Fire engines were pressed into action by the VMC to control the blaze. Senior officials of the civic body also rushed to the spot to supervise the firefighting operations.

Sources said that the fire was much bigger than the one that had taken place on the night of March 25. While the fire on March 25 was brought under control within a couple of hours, the one on Monday night was much more serious and took a longer time to be doused. Residents in the area have been raising the issue of the frequent fires in the landfill site since quite some time now. The smoke from the fires spreads to nearby residential areas.
