A five-month-old leopard cub was found dead in a tea estate in Valparai on Sunday.

On receipt of information about the leopard carcass, the Forest department staff led by Valparai ranger Sakthy Ganesh arrived at the spot and sent the carcass of the animal to man-animal conflict mitigation centre in Valparai for post-mortem examination.
Following post-mortem examination of the animal, performed by Valparai government veterinary doctor Prakash, it was found that the animal died a few days ago as its body had already begun decaying.
The leopard cub was suspected to have been killed in a fight with other wild animals. The carcass was then burnt by the Forest department staff.
The labourers spotted the carcass of the animal in a decaying state in the bushes at Iyerpadi Estate.
