HYDERABAD: Actor-couple Rajasekhar and Jeevitha joined the YSRCP on Monday. They met party leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy at his Lotus Pond residence in the city.

The couple have practically had association with various parties in the past, including with YSRC before they fell out with Jagan some years ago. They were earlier aligned with the Congress, TDP, and the BJP.

“There was a small misunderstanding with Jagan and we cleared it. I was immature and childish when I criticised him in the past. I realised I had done the wrong thing and wanted to patch up with him. Jeevitha and I will campaign for Jagan in our best possible way to see him as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh,” Rajasekhar said.

Describing Jagan as ‘puli bidda’ (a tiger cub), he said Jagan had gone through much trouble in the last 10 years only with the intention of serving the people.

“Chandrababu Naidu has been given three chances to become chief minister. We have seen enough of him as he is now promoting family politics. There is nothing more that he can deliver,” Rajasekhar said.

It may be mentioned here that after the death of former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy in 2009, Rajasekhar and Jeevitha had met his son Jaganmohan Reddy and announced a biographical film on YSR. Puri Jagannadh was announced as the director. The project did not take off and later the actors went public criticising Jagan as a self-centred man.

“The Jagan we saw today is lovable and affectionate,” Rajasekhar said. Jeevitha said they had come to join hands with Jagan without expecting benefit in return.

Rajasekhar and Jeevitha had once been associated with the TDP and distanced themselves from it. After a few years' gap, they met Chandrababu Naidu but they got no admission into the party.
