Tirupur: Both NDA and UPA have been announcing various pro-farmer schemes but they should answer who was responsible for poor state of farmers, said Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman.

He addressed a public meeting in Tirupur on Monday.

“While DMK, the major party of UPA alliance in the state, has announced that it would take steps to waive all farm loans, BJP has initiated financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year to each farmers' families. But how the farmers have been pushed to such poor state, where they should beg the government. Both the alliances have been in power for the last seventy years since independence, and after ruining the lives of the farmers, they have been announcing the schemes for them,” he said

"All these years, these parties including DMK and AIADMK have claiming that their election symbols like rising sun belonged to 'poor farmers and marginal sections'. Why farmers or poor people are in the same state? If the rising sun was those people's symbol, what is the symbol of DMK. So, the people should realize NTK's Ganna Kisan is only the symbol of the farmers,” he said.

“While DMK had shared power in the central government for 18 years, in different periods, AIADMK have 37 incumbent MPs. After failed in those years to bring development to the people, they have been seeking votes again," he said.
